Known throughout the world for its beauty and views of the magnificent Table Mountain, you will discover 36 hectares of forest with the largest collection of African plants.

Kirstenbosch was established in 1913 to preserve and display the extremely rich and diverse flora of South Africa. It was the world's first botanical garden dedicated to the native flora of a country. You can discover this green space by walking along its trails: you will find 528 hectares of very diverse flora and natural forest, including a 36-hectare plantation of South African species.

There is also a regular program of open-air exhibitions and performances. On summer Sunday evenings you can enjoy open-air concerts with the best South African and international artists.

The Botanical Garden also houses a library, a research center, an education center and the headquarters of the South African National Biodiversity Institute.

We recommend that you visit between December and March - the dry season - for a more pleasant visit. The whole area is adapted for people with special needs.
