Come to the Benfica Crafts Market and take a little bit of Angola with you!
Since the 1990’s, the Crafts Market of Benfica has been a true institution for those interested in Angola’s arts and crafts. “Kifica”, as is is locally known, attracts many craftspeople and sellers — every day, roughly 700 salespeople have an estimated 10 000 works on display.
This is the place to buy statues (mainly representations of animals or Angolan popular characters such as “the Thinker”) And traditional masks such as Mwana Pwo, which represents the female ideal. There are stalls with artists selling colourful pictures and several types of antiques and crafts for sale.
The “Kifica” Crafts Market can be found at the Benfica neighbourhood in the municipality of Belas, south of Luanda.
