A220 AIRCRAFT IS PRESENTED TO CUSTOMERS, SHAREHOLDERS, PARTNERS AND INSTITUTIONAL BODIES IN A JOINT INITIATIVE BY TAAG AND AIRBUS

Luanda, December 6, 2022: TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola and Airbus held a presentation ceremony for the A220 aircraft. The event took place at Luanda International Airport, with the highlight being the demonstration flight, which was attended by institutional guests, shareholders, diplomatic representatives, partners and customers on board the aircraft..
TAAG plans to add the A220s to its fleet on a dry lease basis from August 2023, allowing TAAG personnel to operate and maintain the aircraft after training begins in February. The reinforcement of TAAG's fleet is evidence of its modernization and growth path, which includes a more versatile fleet capable of responding to the needs of the continental and Latin American markets (in line with the growing evolution of TAAG's network of destinations and frequencies), allowing the company to take greater advantage of the country's geostrategic position, reinforced by the Luanda hub and the new Drº Agostinho Neto International Airport.

This is the first time that Airbus has carried out a demonstration flight in the Southern African region, with Angola as the selected country. It is a historic event that brings prestige to Angola, to Angolan aviation and to the credibility of the flag carrier. The arrival of the new aircraft (two to be delivered in August 2023 and four in 2024) will allow an increase in flights, enabling TAAG pilots, cabin crew and maintenance technicians to operate and maintain these aircraft, opening up training and career opportunities for all these employees.
The Airbus A220 seats 142 passengers (130 in economy class and 12 in business class). It is a modern and extremely efficient aircraft with a fuel burn reduction of around 25%. It is environmentally friendly with reduced CO2 emissions and noise pollution. Customers will enjoy superior comfort, entertainment and more cabin and baggage space.
